Fat Lady Sings
(dedicated to Judy D, an online only friend who does not
know how beautiful she is)
"Pardon me sir, may I ask...twenty five cents to see the fat lady?"
"Son, go in you will see her rolls of fat, more than you can ever believe...
But stay your quarter standing here, more than you will have seen lately."
So reaching very deeply into his pocket, a singular coin he did leave.

But the fat lady sings in the church choir, hymns of love and trust in god...
Every Sunday, no one knows...
Her beautiful voice remains inspired...
For all the world on Sabbath shows.

The young man went in the sheltered tent...
Leaving his quarter to see the freak...
He stood agasp, at the money he had spent...
To find if it was his mother, his amazement seeked.

But the fat lady sings in the church choir, hymns of love and trust in god...
Every Sunday, no one knows...
Her beautiful voice remains inspired...
For all the world on Sabbath shows.

Oh yes she was large, in every way...
But strangers never saw the heart that was inside...
Only the image she portrayed that day...
Physical not real, the heart must hide.

But the fat lady sings in the church choir, hymns of love and trust in god...
Every Sunday, no one knows...
Her beautiful voice remains inspired...
For all the world on Sabbath shows.

First came pain, then he felt his pride...
For he thought of his mother's care...
So as he slipped discreetly outside...
He heard her voice sing ever so fair.

But the fat lady sings in the church choir, hymns of love and trust in god...
Every Sunday, no one knows...
Her beautiful voice remains inspired...
For all the world on Sabbath shows.

And like the fat lady in the carnival show...
And like her son who ventured there...
Please know that your beautiful body is not all I know...
I looked beyond first, to find your care.

And like the fat lady sings in the church, for all to hear...
My passion finds thought of you in song...
You hold me close through my fear....
With you my love remains so strong.

So please know this as I hold you tight...
It is all of what to me you bring...
That soars my heart to its height...
Cause it is never over till the fat lady sings.

But the fat lady sings in the church choir, hymns of love and trust in god...
Every Sunday, no one knows...
Her beautiful voice remains inspired...
For all the world on Sabbath shows.

I beg that no one is offended by this poem,
it is meant to display inner beauty, not physical size.
